Permanent Exterior Lighting Installation in Menands

Our crew fastens a low-profile LED system to your fascia, so the roofline stays lit all year and the ladder stays in the garage. You choose colors, brightness and schedules on your phone. Before you sign anything, we explain each option in plain terms.

What permanent lighting actually is

Permanent lighting is a row of small LEDs that sit inside a narrow metal rail. We fasten that rail to the fascia board or tuck it under the eave. The rail comes in trim colors, so in daylight it looks like part of the house. Most people walking by never spot it until dusk.

Power runs to a compact controller, most often plugged in inside the garage or at an exterior outlet. The controller talks to an app. That is where you set on and off times, dim the lights, and pick one steady color or a moving pattern. The same lights handle December, a birthday, game night and a plain white glow over the driveway.

This is a good fit if hauling out string lights every fall has gotten old, or if you want the home exterior lit in every season. We have spent 5 years in business putting these systems up, and the company is licensed and insured for the work on your house.

What comes with an install

  1. 01

    Measurements and a run plan

We walk the house, measure each stretch of roofline and mark peaks, dormers and corners. We also pick the power source. You see the full layout before anything goes up.

  2. 02

    Trim-matched rail

The rail is offered in shades that match common fascia and trim. It sits flat to the board, so it reads as trim rather than equipment.

  3. 03

    Full-color LEDs and a Wi-Fi controller

Every light can show any color. The controller joins your home Wi-Fi, so you can change a scene from the kitchen or from work.

  4. 04

    Phone setup before we go

We load the app on your phone and walk through schedules and saved scenes together. It takes a few minutes, and you can call us later if something slips your mind.

  5. 05

    Site cleanup

Offcuts, packaging and loose fasteners leave with us. The lawn and beds look the way we found them.

When a permanent system is worth it

  • Hanging lights has become a risk

Stretching off a ladder on a two-story roof in November is how falls happen. Once the system is up, nobody in the house has to climb for lights again.

  • Clips and strings fail every year

Cheap clips snap in the cold. Strings droop under snow and bulbs quit halfway through the season. Lights seated in a rail stay put year-round.

  • You want more than a holiday look

Orange for Halloween, red, white and blue in July, team colors on a Sunday, warm white any night. One install covers all of it.

  • The entry is hard to see at night

Light along the eaves falls on the walls, steps and walkway. It adds curb appeal and lets you see who is at the door.

  • Cords and timers are a mess

No cords across the grass and no plug-in timers that drift out of sync. One schedule in the app runs everything.

How an install works

  1. 1

    Start with a phone call

Give us a ring and describe the house: one story or two, front only or all the way around. We set a time to come out and look. The quote is free.

  2. 2

    On-site look and written quote

We measure, check where power can come from and lay out your choices: rail color, light spacing and controller options. Then you get a written quote with each item listed.

  3. 3

    Install day

Ladders go up with care around gutters, shrubs and walkways. The rail fastens to the fascia or under the eave, never through shingles. Lights seat into the rail and wiring is routed neatly to the controller.

  4. 4

    Testing and handoff

We cycle every light through colors and patterns to catch any dark spot. Then we set up your phone, show you the basics and clean up.

What sets the price

We price after measuring, since no two houses are alike. Total footage of roofline is the main driver. Height and roof shape follow close behind. Your written quote breaks out each piece, so nothing shows up later as a surprise.

Linear feet lit
The longer the run, the more rail and LEDs it takes. Lighting only the front is common, and so is wrapping the whole house.
Height and reach
A single-story ranch goes quickly. A two-story colonial with a steep pitch needs more ladder setup and slower, careful work.
Peaks, dormers and corners
Every angle means extra cuts and connectors. A long straight eave installs faster than a roof with several gables.
Distance to power
An outlet in the garage or on the outside wall near the run keeps wiring short. A long route to reach power adds labor.

Questions we hear about permanent lighting

Can you see the track during the day?

Not much. The channel is thin and comes in colors that match common trim. From the street it usually reads as part of the fascia.

How do the lights hold up in winter snow and ice?

The track sits tight under the roof edge, so snow slides past it instead of piling on it. The LEDs are sealed for outdoor use and run cool, so they keep working through a cold Capital Region winter.

Will it damage my roof or gutters?

We mount to the fascia or under the eave, not through the shingles. That keeps the roof surface sealed. If your gutters sit in the way, we plan the run around them and show you before we start.

What warranty comes with the lights?

The system comes with a 10-year product warranty. If you ever have a question about a light or the controller, give us a call and we will talk it through.

Do I need a new outlet?

Usually not. The controller plugs into a standard outlet in the garage or outside. If there is no good spot, we will tell you during the walk-around and explain your options.

Do you install outside Menands?

Yes. We work across the area, including Albany, Troy, Latham, Loudonville and Colonie. Call and tell us where you are, and we will set up a time to come measure.
