Exterior Window and Glass Care in Menands
Our crew takes care of the outside face of every pane, plus the frames, sills and screens around it. Before any water touches the glass, we say which method we plan to use and why. You end up with clear glass, dry sills and an honest word on spots that won't budge.
What this service covers and when it makes sense
Outside glass picks up a film over time. Pollen, road grime, bird droppings and the gray haze left after a rain all build up. Most houses look their best with a visit once or twice a year, and spring and fall are the usual times. Clear glass also helps if you have permanent lighting on the roofline, since the glow reflects cleanly instead of through a smudge.
There are two common ways to clean exterior glass. The classic hand method uses a scrubber and a squeegee. A water-fed pole sprays filtered, purified water that dries without spots. We use both and choose based on your windows, how high they sit and how dirty they are. Ask us why we picked one, and we will explain it right there.
Anyone on a ladder next to your house should be properly covered. Our company is licensed and insured, and five years in business has taught us where windows tend to hide trouble.

What a visit includes
- 01
Exterior glass
Every pane we can reach gets scrubbed, then rinsed or squeegeed. Upper-story glass is done from the ground with a pole wherever possible, so ladders stay off your siding.
- 02
Frames and sills
Grime left sitting on a frame washes down across the glass the first time it rains. That is why we wipe frames and sills as part of the job. Skip them and the windows look good for about a week.
- 03
Screens
We pull the screens, brush and rinse them, and set them back in place. If one is torn, we show you and let you decide. Nothing gets thrown out.
- 04
Tracks and weep holes
Sliding door and window tracks collect grit and dead bugs. We clear them out and check the small drain slots at the bottom so water has a way out.
- 05
A final look together
Before we pack up, we look over the glass with you. If a pane still has a mark, we take care of it before we leave.
Questions about Exterior Glass Care?
Call(518) 754-0572Signs your windows are due
Haze in low sun
Glass that looks cloudy in early morning or evening light usually has a film of dust and pollen on it. The right method takes it off.
White spots that stay put
These are usually mineral deposits from sprinklers or hard water. Light spots come off in a normal visit. Heavy ones may have etched the glass, and we will tell you honestly if they cannot be fully removed.
Gray or clogged screens
A dirty screen cuts the light and air coming into the room. It also makes freshly cleaned glass look dull from the inside.
Water standing in the tracks
If water pools in a sliding track after rain, the weep holes are likely blocked. Left alone, that water can seep into the frame.
More than a year since the last visit
A long Capital Region winter leaves salt spray and grime on lower windows. Cleaning it off in spring keeps it from baking on through summer.
How the job day goes
- 1
A walk around the house
We go around the outside with you, count the windows and note anything unusual, like mineral spots, cracked seals or loose screens. You hear what we see before any work begins.
- 2
Screens come off first
We pull the screens, mark where each one goes and clean them on the lawn or driveway while the glass gets done.
- 3
Glass, frames and sills
Each window gets the method that suits it: a squeegee for glass we can reach, the water-fed pole for high or awkward panes. If any solution drips on plants below, we rinse them off.
- 4
Tracks, screens back, last check
We clear the tracks, put every screen back where it came from and do a final look with you. Our gear and any debris leave with us.
What moves the price on your windows
No two houses have the same windows, so we price once we know the details. You get a free quote by phone, and we confirm it when we see the glass in person. You will know the number before we start.
- How many windows, and how big
- More panes mean more time. Big picture windows and divided-light windows with lots of small panes take longer than plain double-hung units.
- Reach and setup
- Windows you can reach from the lawn go fast. Upper floors, sloped yards, decks or dense shrubs in front of the glass all mean more setup time.
- Time since the last visit
- Glass that gets done every year comes clean quickly. Years of buildup, paint overspray or heavy mineral spots take extra work.
- Screens and tracks
- Screens and tracks are part of a full visit. A house with lots of screens or tracks packed with grit takes a little longer.
Questions about exterior glass care
Do you do the inside glass as well?
We work outside only. That means the exterior side of the glass plus frames, sills, screens and tracks. Tell us on the phone what you are hoping for, and we will say plainly what the visit covers.
What is a water-fed pole, and does it work as well as a squeegee?
It is a long pole with a soft brush on the end that sprays purified water. The minerals are filtered out, so the glass dries clear without wiping. On high windows it often does better than a squeegee, because nobody has to climb a ladder.
Can you get hard water spots off?
Light spots usually come off during a normal visit. Spots that have sat for years can etch into the glass itself. When we see that, we tell you up front what will and will not come off, so you are not paying for a result that is not possible.
Does someone have to stay home while you work?
No. A few minutes at the start helps, so we can walk the outside together and agree on what gets done. Leave gates and sliding doors unlocked, and the rest of the day is yours.
Will you hurt my plants or siding?
We keep ladders off the siding wherever a pole can reach. If anything drips onto the plants below a window, we rinse them. Your landscaping should look the way it did when we arrived.
